Dear Valued Customer,
President Donald Trump said on Friday that he’ll remove India from eligibility for GSP effective Wednesday June 5, 2019.
On May 31, 2019 Trump issued a “Proclamation to Modify the List of Beneficiary Developing Countries Under the Trade Act of 1974”.
Trump stated in the Proclamation that “I have determined that India has not assured the United States that India will provide equitable and reasonable access to its markets. Accordingly, it is appropriate to terminate India’s designation as a beneficiary developing country effective June 5, 2019.”
In addition, effective June 5 India is being removed from the list off developing country WTO Members exempt from application of the safeguard measures on CSPV products and large residential washers.
We recommend the use of the Estimated Entry Date and Elected Entry Date for any shipments arriving into US port limits on or before June 4 to lock in GSP eligibility prior to the effective date.
