Dear Valued Customer:
House of Representatives Passes GSP Renewal Bill Feb 13, 2018
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On February 13, 2018 the House of Representatives Passed H.R. 4979 by a nearly unanimous vote of 400-2 in favor.
The bill would retroactively renew the Generalized System of Preferences, and extend the program for developing countries until the end of 2020. A companion bill has not yet been introduced in the Senate.
A GSP renewal and Miscellaneous Tariff Bill package is expected to come to a vote in the next few months. There are rumors that the bills could be part of the omnibus funding bill that is expected to be approved by March 23. James J. Boyle & Co. will continue to monitor progress of the GSP renewal and will continue to flag all GSP-eligible entries in accordance with your written instructions on file so that upon renewal your refunds will be generated as smoothly as possible.
