Emergency
Fuel Cost Recovery Surcharge to USA
Date: December 14,2007
In response to increasing fuel prices, most ocean transportation
carriers have announced a new Emergency Fuel Cost Recovery Surcharge
(AKA EFS, EFC and EFR) for cargo destined to the United States.
This new surcharge will apply in addition to the bunker surcharge
and inland fuel surcharge the carriers already have filed in their
tariffs.
So far we have received notification from the carriers listed
below:

For Less than Container Loads (LCL), the additional surcharges
will be approximately $US7 per CBM/TON, whichever is applicable.
In addition to these new surcharges, certain carriers have also
announced an increase in the Panama Canal Surcharge (PCS, AKA
PCTF) to $US247 per container, effective May 1, 2008; and an increase
in the Shanghai Port Surcharge to $US66 per 20’ container, $US88
per 40’ container, $US99 per 40’ high-cube container, effective
