Los Angeles Port Strike
Update
Date: July 22, 2007
Clerical workers presented their final offer
to shipping companies after all-night contract talks aimed at
preventing a strike at the nation's largest port complex; if the
clerks go on strike, as early as tomorrow, cargo operations at both
ports will come to a halt as the International Longshore &
Warehouse Union (ILWU) has said it will honor the clerks’ picket
lines and refuse to load or unload ships or work the ports’
intermodal rail yards.
